Copilot Money alternative: when you want your own AI keeping up with your money.

Copilot Money, the budgeting app and not Microsoft Copilot, is one of the best-designed ways to track your money on Apple devices, and it is adding AI of its own. Candor starts from the other side: the AI you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, keeps up with your money in a workspace built for it, on any device your agent runs on. What is Copilot Money?

Copilot Money is a personal finance app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web, with no Android app. It costs $13 a month or $95 a year after a one-month free trial. It tracks spending, budgets with rollovers, recurring charges, investments, and net worth, and learns your categories with machine learning. It cannot move money.

Copilot Intelligence, launched in 2023, trains a model on your own categorization once you have reviewed enough transactions. In April 2026 Copilot opened a waitlisted beta of a Money Assistant that gives briefings and, since August, can edit categories, budgets, transactions, recurring charges, and rules inside Copilot after checking with you. The web app arrived in December 2025 and does not yet have every feature of the Apple apps.

Partners share one Copilot account through a login link and both get full control. Copilot's privacy policy says it does not sell your financial information.

Does Copilot Money work with Claude or ChatGPT?

In beta. Copilot announced an official MCP server in May 2026, read-only and tested with Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex CLI, and widened what it can read in August. Access is through a waitlist. Copilot has no public API, and its terms prohibit automated retrieval, so unofficial Copilot MCP servers on GitHub are outside its rules.

When you are off the waitlist, Copilot's MCP lets an outside agent read categories, transactions, monthly spending and income, recurring charges, and tags. The agent can look things up, but the budget and your decisions live in Copilot's app, which is where Copilot expects you to work.

Candor is built the other way around. The workspace is designed for your agent from the start: it opens with what needs attention, reports figures computed from your records, and keeps the budget, goals, and decisions you approved, so the next conversation picks up where the last one ended.

What is Candor?

Candor is the financial workspace the AI you already use works in. Your agent works from your linked accounts, brings you what needs attention with the figures behind it, and saves the budget, goals, and decisions you approve with their reasons. Candor is read-only and works in Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, Meta Muse, and other agents, with a web dashboard beside it.

If something crosses a line, such as a price increase, a duplicate charge, a category running ahead of plan, or a bill due before payday, it is waiting when your agent opens the workspace. Your agent reads Candor when you ask, or on a schedule if your agent supports scheduled tasks. Candor has no tool to move money, and every read your agent makes is logged with a reason.

Candor vs Copilot Money: what is the difference?

Copilot is an app you look at, with AI features growing inside it and a read-only MCP for outside agents in beta. Candor is a workspace your own agent works in, available now, that keeps what you decided across conversations and agents. Choose Copilot for the best-looking tracker on Apple devices; choose Candor if you would rather ask your AI than open an app.

Who should choose Copilot Money?

Choose Copilot if you want a beautiful app to check yourself, mostly on Apple devices, with categorization that learns from you. It suits people who enjoy reviewing their spending in a dashboard, want investments and net worth in one place, and are happy to wait for its AI and MCP betas.

Copilot's design is the reason people pick it, and it keeps improving: running totals, split transactions on the web, and the Money Assistant all arrived in 2026. If opening the app is part of your routine, it is hard to beat.

Who should choose Candor instead?

Choose Candor if you already use an AI like Claude or ChatGPT and would rather ask it about your money than open another app, if you use Android, or if you want the budget and decisions you approve saved for whichever agent you use next. It is available now, not behind a waitlist.
