Rocket Money alternative: let your AI agent sort out subscriptions and plan your goals.

Rocket Money finds your subscriptions, cancels many of the ones you don't want, negotiates bills, and tracks your spending. With Candor, the AI agent you already use does the same jobs. Candor gives it your records and raises what changed, and your agent cancels, asks for refunds, and writes to providers with your okay. Many agents can now use a browser for you, so there is nothing to build. The same agent also plans toward the goals you set, with a budget that pays for them and a weekly review of your whole financial life.

Ask your agent which subscriptions are worth a second look.

Your agent is looking into 3 things from Candor’s review.

  • Shopping is eating into the home fund

    Set aside

Shopping has run past its line this month, and it's the line the home fund gives way to.

  • The car is almost paid off

    Set aside

The Capital One loan has under a year left, and that payment is about what the home fund is short each month.

  • The brokerage and the house

The Vanguard account is all in stock funds, and nothing says whether any of it is meant for the down payment two years out.

  • Spotify charged twice

How it works with your agent

  1. 1

Connect your cards and bank accounts to Candor through bank-grade sign-in.

  2. 2

Copy one setup message into Claude, ChatGPT, or your agent, and approve its access.

  3. 3

Ask what's recurring. Your agent reads your recurring charges in Candor, with the transactions behind them, and spots price increases and duplicates.

  4. 4

With your okay, your agent cancels, asks for a refund, or writes to the provider, in a browser or by email. Candor keeps a note to check the next bill.

Can your AI agent do what Rocket Money does?

Most of it. Candor gives your agent your recurring charges, spending, budgets, and goals, and its weekly review raises a price increase or duplicate charge when one is worth talking through. With your okay, your agent cancels a subscription, asks for a refund, or asks a provider for a lower rate, in a browser or by email. Candor never moves money, and it does not include a credit score.

Rocket Money does this work through its own team and, on Premium+, its Rowan assistant by text. With Candor, the work happens in Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, Meta Muse, or another agent you already use. Many agents can now use a browser for you, such as Claude in Chrome or the browser in ChatGPT Work, so yours can fill in a cancellation form or write to support itself. There is no custom tool to build. If yours can't use a browser yet, it drafts the message for you to send.

Either way, Candor keeps the record: what you decided, why, and a note with a date to check the next billing cycle. Once that date passes, the note comes back the next time your agent opens Candor, whether you ask or the agent runs a scheduled check, and it looks for the charge or the promised credit before calling it done.

What does Candor add beyond Rocket Money?

It keeps one plan for your whole financial life, in whichever agent you use. Tell your agent what you're after, like paying off the cards or buying a house, and it sets up goals measured from your accounts and a budget that pays for them. Every week Candor reviews all of it, from subscriptions to investments and retirement, and tells your agent what's worth talking through and why.

The money a cancelled subscription frees can go to a card balance, an emergency fund, or a down payment. Your agent tracks it against your goal and tells you straight whether the plan works, what doesn't yet, and what would have to change, with the figures calculated from your records.

The budget you approved, the charge you chose to keep, and the reason you gave are saved in Candor, so the next conversation, or a different agent, picks up where the last one stopped.

What is Rocket Money?

Rocket Money, from Rocket Companies, is a money app for iPhone and Android, with web access on paid plans. The free plan tracks spending, lists subscriptions, and shows your credit score. Premium, priced at what you think is fair from $7 to $14 a month, adds cancellation for services it supports, unlimited budgets, net worth, goals, and your full credit report. Premium+ is $15 a month.

Premium+ adds Rowan, an AI assistant Rocket Money built with Anthropic and began rolling out in August 2026. Rowan works by text message. It reaches out about price increases and forgotten trials, and with your reply it cancels services, negotiates bills, and contacts companies about refunds. Premium+ also includes bill negotiation with no success fee and lets eligible members apply for Rocket Money's high-yield savings account.

Bill negotiation is changing. On Free and Premium, a successful negotiation costs 35% to 60% of the first year's savings. Starting November 2, 2026, new negotiations are for Premium+ members only. Smart Savings moves small amounts into an FDIC-insured account every few days based on your cash flow.

Candor vs Rocket Money: how do they compare?

Rocket Money is an app and a service team that act for you. With Candor, the AI agent you already use does the same jobs, alongside the goals it sets up with you, a budget that pays for them, and a weekly review of your finances. Rocket Money offers a credit score and automatic savings; Candor offers neither.

Both find recurring charges, track spending against budgets, and show net worth. The table lists the differences.

Does Rocket Money work with ChatGPT or Claude?

Not officially, as of October 22, 2026. Rowan is Rocket Money's own assistant and works by text message, not inside ChatGPT or Claude. Customers have asked for a Claude or MCP connector on Rocket Money's feature board. A community MCP server exists, but it is not affiliated with Rocket Money and signs in with your web session cookie.

If you run that server, its own documentation warns that the cookie is a live login to your finances and that you should host it yourself, behind authentication. Write tools that change transactions and subscriptions are on unless you turn on its read-only setting, and a change to Rocket Money's private interface can break it.

Candor connects your accounts on its own, read-only, and is listed in Claude's connector directory and ChatGPT's plugin directory. It does not read your Rocket Money data.

Who should choose Rocket Money?

Choose Rocket Money if you would rather a service than your own AI cancel supported subscriptions and negotiate bills for you, or if a free credit score and automatic savings matter to you. It suits people who want one app, or a text thread with Rowan, focused on cutting bills.

Rocket Money's team has negotiated bills for years, and Rowan brings that work to a text thread. If phone calls with providers are the part you dread, that is a real reason to pay for Premium+.

Who should choose Candor instead?

Choose Candor if you already use Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI agent and want it to take on your subscriptions and bills as part of a bigger plan: paying off debt, saving for something, or working out whether you can afford a change. The cancellations count toward those goals, and everything decided stays saved for the next conversation.

In one documented case, Grok Bot found overlapping subscriptions across two accounts in Candor and asked the service whether the charges could be refunded. The answer was yes, and the refund came to $1,149.69. That was one case, not a typical result.

How was this comparison researched?

Rocket Money facts come from its pricing guide, FAQ, help center, and Rowan page, checked on October 22, 2026. Community server details come from its documentation on the same date. Candor facts describe the product on that date.

We publish Candor, so we have a stake in this comparison, and the page says where Rocket Money is the better fit. Rocket Money is changing bill negotiation on November 2, 2026, and Rowan is new, so check its help center before deciding. Sources are listed below.

Common questions

How much does Rocket Money cost?
As of October 22, 2026, Rocket Money has a free plan, Premium at a price you choose from $7 to $14 a month, and Premium+ at $15 a month. On Free and Premium, a successful bill negotiation costs 35% to 60% of the first year's savings until November 2, 2026, when new negotiations move to Premium+ with no fee. Candor starts at $8.25 a month on the annual plan ($99 a year), or $14.99 month to month, and the first 7 days are free.
Can Candor cancel subscriptions?
Your agent does. With your okay, it fills in the cancellation form in a browser or emails the company, as many agents now can, and if yours can't yet, it drafts the message for you. Candor itself never cancels or moves money; it keeps a note to check the next billing cycle, so the next time your agent opens Candor after that date, it confirms the charge stopped.
Does Candor negotiate bills?
Your agent can. It reads your bill history from Candor, writes to the provider to ask for a lower rate or a current promotion, and saves what the provider offered. There is no success fee. Most agents don't make phone calls yet, so a retention call is still yours.
Does Candor show my credit score?
No. Candor does not pull credit reports or scores. It does read your card balances, interest rates, and due dates from your connected accounts, so your agent can plan a payoff from your real debt. Rocket Money offers a credit score, and ChatGPT Finances is rolling one out on Plus and Pro.
Do I still need Rocket Money if I use Candor?
No. With Candor, your agent finds subscriptions and price increases in your records and, with your okay, cancels them, asks for refunds, and asks for lower bills in a browser or by email, or drafts the request for you to send. Candor keeps your goals, budget, and weekly review. Candor has no credit score or savings account, so check whether you rely on Rocket Money's before you cancel.
What is the best Rocket Money alternative?
It depends on why you are leaving. If you would rather the AI you already use take on your subscriptions as part of a bigger plan, Candor. For a household budget you check yourself, Monarch. For hands-on, give-every-dollar-a-job budgeting, YNAB.
