What you need in Codex
Codex uses the same plugin catalog as ChatGPT, so the Candor Finance plugin brings the finance skill and the connection to Codex too. In the Codex CLI, the plugins command opens the directory in a browser, and an installed plugin is ready from the next session.
Check it worked
Start a new conversation with Codex, enable Candor if asked, and send this:
Check whether the candor-finance skill and Candor access are ready. Tell me about anything missing. If access works, continue my financial task, or start a first review of my money if I have not named one. Be clear about gaps in the records.
Ask the new task to open Candor and report the available financial coverage. Verify both the candor-finance skill and candor_open tool are present. If access is waiting on browser approval, finish that approval rather than reinstalling.
What you should see: Codex names the accounts available in Candor and tells you how recent the information is. If you have not added accounts yet, it should explain how to add them. A missing account or older information does not mean setup failed. Ask Codex what is missing before installing again.
What to try with Codex and Candor
Try following an expected refund from the merchant's promise to the posted credit. Give Codex the merchant, amount, and promised date. It can compare those details with Candor's transactions and keep a note of what remains unresolved. Any message to the merchant still uses Codex's own tools and your authorization.
What access are you granting?
Codex can read the financial records you connect or import into Candor, including available balances, transactions, debts, and holdings. It can also maintain notes and approved plans in the workspace.
Candor has no tool to move money, pay a bill, trade, or cancel a service. Your agent uses its own tools and your authorization for external actions. Candor records a reason for each agent operation, and you can revoke the connection from your account controls.
Common questions
- What does Candor add to Codex?
- A finance app of its own. Candor reviews your records whenever they change and keeps a short list of what deserves attention, from a price increase to idle cash or an employer match, with the figures behind each item. Codex reads that list when you ask, or on a schedule if it supports one, and the budgets, goals, and decisions you approve are saved for the next conversation and for any other agent you use.
- Does this also connect ChatGPT web?
- ChatGPT web does not read Codex's local configuration. Follow the ChatGPT setup page to connect it separately, and check each agent's access in Candor.
- What does Candor cost?
- Candor starts at $8.25 a month on the annual plan ($99 a year), or $14.99 month to month, and the first 7 days are free. Codex's own plan and usage charges are separate.
- How do I disconnect Codex?
- Revoke the agent's access in your Candor account controls. You can also disconnect a financial institution. Removing a local skill alone does not revoke an existing authorization.
