Start at candor.money. The web flow owns signup and the secure, read-only account connection, and it shows the price before you connect anything private. When your workspace is ready, it hands you one line to paste to Claude Code.

From there, Claude Code handles its own setup. It reads Candor's start materials, installs the Candor plugin from Anthropic's plugin marketplace, which carries the candor-finance skill and remote MCP configuration together, and asks before it changes anything on its own host. The approval only you can give comes last: Claude Code's access to your workspace, on Candor's OAuth page in your browser. Bank passwords, codes, and account numbers never pass through the chat.

Connected, Claude Code runs real investigations instead of generic tips: the subscription that quietly went up, the trial about to convert, the refund that never landed, the cash earning almost nothing while debt costs more. Each finding comes with the transactions that prove it, so you check the work instead of trusting it.

And it compounds. Claude Code records budgets you approve, goals you set, decisions you make, and the follow-through, in a workspace that outlives any single conversation. Next month it is not starting over; it is picking up where it left off.

The plugin route keeps the candor-finance skill and the MCP tool contract on matching versions, so the methods Claude Code follows always match the tools it holds. Start a new session after installing, complete Candor's OAuth in the browser, and ask for a first financial review.

The safe pattern is sight without hands. Candor connects to your institutions through bank-grade, read-only infrastructure, and the tool surface it hands Claude Code contains nothing that transfers, pays, trades, or closes. That boundary is architecture, not policy. Whatever else Claude Code can do with its own tools stays under the authority you give it; Candor adds sight, never new powers.
