Is Rocket Money safe and worth it?

Yes, Rocket Money is a safe, legitimate app. It is worth paying for if it cancels or lowers bills by more than its fee, which runs from $84 to $180 a year. The free plan is enough to see your subscriptions and spending. If you already ask Claude or ChatGPT about money, you can choose Candor instead. Your agent finds the same charges, cancels them with your okay, and keeps a plan for your whole financial life.

Two things. Your first home is $180 a month short of its plan, and shopping is $36 over with nine days left in the month. This week's review says shopping is the line the home fund gives way to. Want to go through this month's shopping together?

This week’s review

Your agent is looking into 3 things from Candor’s review.

  • Shopping is eating into the home fund

    Set aside

Shopping has run past its line this month, and it's the line the home fund gives way to.

  • The car is almost paid off

    Set aside

The Capital One loan has under a year left, and that payment is about what the home fund is short each month.

  • The brokerage and the house

    Set aside

The Vanguard account is all in stock funds, and nothing says whether any of it is meant for the down payment two years out.

  • Spotify charged twice

Your agent looked: One charge was a duplicate. You asked Spotify to refund it.

Your agent may ask about

  • whether closing costs come on top of the down payment
  • when the lease ends

Candor with sample data.

How it works with your agent

  1. 1

Connect your cards and bank accounts to Candor through bank-grade sign-in.

  2. 2

Copy one setup message into Claude, ChatGPT, or your agent, and approve its access.

  3. 3

Ask what's recurring. Your agent reads your charges in Candor and spots price increases and duplicates.

  4. 4

With your okay, your agent cancels, asks for a refund, or writes to the provider, and Candor keeps a note to check the next bill.

Is Rocket Money safe?

Yes. Rocket Money is a legitimate app from Rocket Companies, the group behind Rocket Mortgage. It connects most banks through Plaid, and Fidelity through Akoya, so it never sees your bank password. It says it encrypts data with TLS in transit and 256-bit AES on its servers. The BBB accredits it and rates it A+.

Most finance apps link banks the same way, including Monarch and Candor, so the bank connection is rarely what separates them. What differs is what each company does with your data once it has it, and what each app can do with your accounts.

You can unlink an account at any time, and Rocket Money says that stops its access right away. Linking lets it view your transactions. Features you opt into go further: automatic savings moves money into a savings account, and Rocket Money charges its fees to the card or bank account you give it.

What does Rocket Money do with your data?

Rocket Money shares your information with other Rocket companies, such as Rocket Mortgage and Rocket Loans, including so they can market to you. You can limit that. Its privacy notice says it does not share your information with unrelated companies for their own marketing.

To limit affiliate marketing, email security@rocketmoney.com or reach out in the app. The notice also lists joint marketing with other financial companies, which you cannot limit. If you would rather not hear about mortgages and loans from the Rocket family, set this up when you join.

Is Rocket Money worth it?

It is worth paying for if it saves you more than it costs. The free plan shows your spending and subscriptions. Premium costs $84 to $168 a year and pays off if its team cancels things you would otherwise keep paying for. Premium+ costs $180 a year and suits someone who wants bills negotiated and an AI assistant by text.

You can cancel most subscriptions yourself for free, so the Premium fee pays for the time it saves you. If the list of subscriptions is what you needed, the free plan may be enough.

What fees should you know about?

The fee to check is bill negotiation. On Free and Premium, a successful negotiation costs 35% to 60% of the first year's savings, charged up front and generally non-refundable. Starting November 2, 2026, new negotiations are for Premium+ members only, with no success fee.

Rocket Money's terms give this example: at a 40% fee, a $10 monthly reduction costs you $48. If you started a negotiation before the change, check the fee you agreed to.

Cancellation has limits too. Rocket Money can't cancel subscriptions billed through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, or PayPal, and a charge can still post before a cancellation is confirmed. Its pricing guide says Premium cancellations usually take 2 to 10 days.

What do Rocket Money reviews and complaints say?

Ratings are good overall. On November 1, 2026, Rocket Money had 4.5 out of 5 from 404K App Store ratings and 3.9 out of 5 from 4,228 Trustpilot reviews. The BBB showed 206 complaints in the last 3 years, 35 of them in the last 12 months.

Complaints tend to be about billing and support: disagreement over savings a negotiation claimed, charges around cancelling, and how hard it can be to reach a person. Trustpilot's own summary mentions slow replies and automated support. Complaint counts don't show how often problems happen across a large user base.

How do you cancel Rocket Money?

Open Settings, go to Membership, choose Manage, move the slider to $0 a month, and confirm. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your billing cycle, and you keep Premium until then. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there.

Cancelling Premium does not delete your Rocket Money account, and active bill negotiations stay in place. To cut off its access to your data, unlink your accounts as well.

What should you use instead of Rocket Money?

If you already use Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI agent, choose Candor. With Candor, your agent finds the same subscriptions and price increases and, with your okay, cancels them, asks for refunds, and asks for lower bills, in a browser or by email. If yours can't use a browser yet, it drafts the message for you to send.

Your agent works on more than bills. Tell it what you want, like paying off the cards or buying a house, and it sets up goals from your real accounts and a budget that pays for them. Every week Candor reviews your spending, bills, debt, savings, and investments, and tells your agent what's worth talking through and why. The money a cancelled subscription frees goes toward those goals, and the decisions stay saved for the next conversation.

Candor never moves money, and it does not include a credit score or a savings account.

Who should stay with Rocket Money?

Stay if you want a dedicated service to cancel and negotiate for you, or if a free credit score and automatic savings matter to you. Rocket Money's team has negotiated bills for years, and if calling providers is the part you dread, that is a real reason to pay.

How was this review researched?

This review draws on Rocket Money's pricing guide, terms, privacy notice, security page, and help center, plus App Store, Trustpilot, and BBB figures, all checked November 1, 2026. We publish Candor, a competitor, and we did not test a Rocket Money account for this page.
