Candor

Connect your agent to your bank account.

Give the agent you already use a financial workspace. Candor keeps a short list of what needs a decision, with the figures behind each item, and saves the plans you approve. Any agent that loads the finance skill and uses MCP or the CLI can work in it.

Set up your agent in three steps

  1. 1

Create your Candor account and choose your plan. Connect your accounts with bank-grade sign-in now, or import statements with your agent later.

    Create your account
  2. 2

Copy this message into a conversation with your agent.

Set up Candor from https://candor.money/START.md and walk me through connecting it here.

  3. 3

Your agent handles the setup its tools support and asks you to approve access to your Candor account.

Check it worked

Start a new conversation with your agent, enable Candor if asked, and send this:

Check whether the candor-finance skill and Candor access are ready. Tell me about anything missing. If access works, continue my financial task, or start a first review of my money if I have not named one. Be clear about gaps in the records.

Ask your agent to confirm the candor-finance skill is loaded and open your Candor workspace. It should reply using your available records and explain any gaps. A plugin badge or a list of tools alone does not confirm setup. If it cannot load the skill or reach Candor, use the setup help above to identify the missing capability.

What you should see: Your agent names the accounts available in Candor and tells you how recent the information is. If you have not added accounts yet, it should explain how to add them. A missing account or older information does not mean setup failed. Ask your agent what is missing before installing again.

What to try with your agent and Candor

Start with a review of recent spending, a budget grounded in your transactions, or a decision you want your agent to remember. Your agent can keep the context in Candor and revisit it as your records change.

What access are you granting?

your agent can read the financial records you connect or import into Candor, including available balances, transactions, debts, and holdings. It can also maintain notes and approved plans in the workspace.

Candor has no tool to move money, pay a bill, trade, or cancel a service. Your agent uses its own tools and your authorization for external actions. Candor records a reason for each agent operation, and you can revoke the connection from your account controls.

Common questions

What does Candor add to my agent?
A financial workspace. Candor reviews your records whenever they change and keeps a short list of what needs a decision, from a price increase to idle cash or an employer match, with the figures behind each item. Your agent reads that list when you ask, or on a schedule if it supports one, and the budgets, goals, and decisions you approve are saved for the next conversation and for any other agent you use.
What if my agent cannot install plugins or skills?
Check your app's official skill and connector documentation above. Access to Candor's tools alone does not include the finance skill. If your app cannot load the skill and use either MCP or the CLI, choose a supported agent from the connection page or contact support for help.
What does Candor cost?
Candor shows its current price and terms before you connect financial accounts. your agent's own plan and usage charges are separate.
How do I disconnect my agent?
Revoke the agent's access in your Candor account controls. You can also disconnect a financial institution. Removing a local skill alone does not revoke an existing authorization.

If setup gets stuck

Let’s get you connected.

Your agent does the setup. When it stops, the answer is usually one of a few things it can ask for, and all of them are ready in your Candor dashboard.

Already connected? Check it worked

Finish setup from your Candor dashboard

Sign in, pick Other agents, and follow the three steps. The page shows the moment your agent connects, and it has the connection details ready if your agent asks.

Your agent asks for a server address or connection details

Most apps only need the address. Choose OAuth for authentication and leave Client ID and Client Secret blank; the app registers itself and discovers the rest from the address.

Token authentication

none

Token authentication is none for this public client. Do not choose OpenID Connect or add openid, email, or profile to the scopes. If an app insists on a Client Secret or a Client ID it cannot create itself, email us. Never enter made-up credentials or paste tokens into chat.

Your agent needs the finance skill file

Most apps install it with the connection. If your agent asks for the file, download the complete skill and upload it through the app’s skill control, not as a chat attachment. Keep the whole candor-finance folder, including methods and references.

Something still isn’t working
A setting is missing or locked
Check your app's own instructions for which plan, role, and device can add connections. On a work or school account, ask the admin to allow custom connections and skills. If your account cannot, pick another agent or email us.
Sign-in expired, was cancelled, or keeps failing
Open the Candor connection in your app and choose Connect or Sign in again. Use the new link and come back to the same app after approving. If your app runs on another computer, sign in from that computer.
Connected, but the conversation cannot use Candor
Turn Candor on in the conversation's tools menu and start a new conversation. Make sure you connected it in the same account and on the same device you are using now.
The finance skill is missing or still scanning
Find candor-finance in your app's skill list and turn it on. If the app scans skills, wait for the scan to finish before starting a new conversation. If the skill is not there, upload the ZIP from the skill file section where the app manages skills, not as a chat attachment.
Official Other agents instructions

Button names move. When they do, the app’s own instructions win; the Candor values above stay the same.

Start your first review with your agent.

Create your Candor account and connect your accounts. Then copy one setup message into the agent you already use and approve its access.
