Connect Hermes to your bank account.

Hermes becomes genuinely useful with money the moment it can see yours. Candor gives Hermes bank-grade, read-only sight of your real accounts plus the memory and finance skills to act like someone paid to watch them. Setup takes minutes, Hermes does the work, and Candor gives it no way to move a dollar.

How it works with your agent

  1. 01Create your Candor workspace at candor.money and connect accounts through the bank-grade, read-only flow. You see the price before anything private.
  2. 02Tell Hermes to set up Candor. It installs the candor-finance skill through Hermes's GitHub skill installer and adds Candor's remote MCP server with OAuth.
  3. 03Approve Hermes's access in your browser through Candor's OAuth page. Your bank credentials are never part of this step.
  4. 04Ask Hermes for a first review. It opens the workspace, reads your records, and shows you what it caught. Tell it the cadence you want and it keeps watching.

Can Hermes see my bank account?

Yes. Connect Hermes to Candor and it can read your accounts, balances, transactions, debts, and holdings across institutions. The access is read-only by architecture: through Candor, Hermes can see everything and move nothing.

On its own, Hermes can only talk about money in general. Connected to Candor, it works from your actual records: every account in one organized workspace, refreshed and queryable, with the freshness, coverage, and history behind every number. That is the difference between advice from a smart stranger and advice from something that can check.

Candor is the financial workspace built for this. It holds the bank-grade connections, normalizes the records, and hands Hermes deterministic datasets, durable memory for budgets and goals, and finance skills that teach it how disciplined money work is actually done.

How to connect Hermes to your bank account

Three moves: create your Candor workspace on the web, have Hermes install the candor-finance skill and Candor's remote MCP server, and approve its access in your browser. Most people are done inside ten minutes.

Start at candor.money. The web flow owns signup and the secure, read-only account connection, and it shows the price before you connect anything private. When your workspace is ready, it hands you one line to paste to Hermes.

From there, Hermes handles its own setup. It reads Candor's start materials, installs the candor-finance skill through Hermes's GitHub skill installer and adds Candor's remote MCP server with OAuth, and asks before it changes anything on its own host. The approval only you can give comes last: Hermes's access to your workspace, on Candor's OAuth page in your browser. Bank passwords, codes, and account numbers never pass through the chat.

What can Hermes do once it sees your money?

The work you would pay an advisor for: catch duplicate charges and price jumps, flag avoidable fees and idle cash, keep budgets and goals current, and remember every decision with the records behind it.

Connected, Hermes runs real investigations instead of generic tips: the subscription that quietly went up, the trial about to convert, the refund that never landed, the cash earning almost nothing while debt costs more. Each finding comes with the transactions that prove it, so you check the work instead of trusting it.

And it compounds. Hermes records budgets you approve, goals you set, decisions you make, and the follow-through, in a workspace that outlives any single conversation. Next month it is not starting over; it is picking up where it left off.

Is it safe to connect Hermes to your bank account?

Yes. No Candor tool can move money, pay, trade, or change anything at your bank; the connections are read-only, every read is logged with a reason, and you can revoke Hermes's access at any time.

The safe pattern is sight without hands. Candor connects to your institutions through bank-grade, read-only infrastructure, and the tool surface it hands Hermes contains nothing that transfers, pays, trades, or closes. That boundary is architecture, not policy. Whatever else Hermes can do with its own tools stays under the authority you give it; Candor adds sight, never new powers.

You stay in control of the connection itself: approve it in your browser, watch what it reads in the audit history, and cut it off from your Candor account whenever you want. Every workspace read carries a recorded reason, so there is always an answer to what your agent looked at and why.

Common questions

Does Hermes connect directly to my bank?
No, and that is the point. Candor holds the bank-grade, read-only connection to your institutions. Hermes gets OAuth-scoped access to the organized workspace, so your bank credentials never touch the agent or the chat.
Can Hermes move my money through Candor?
No. Candor has no tool that moves money, makes a payment, trades, or changes anything at your bank or broker. Hermes reads your records, does the math, and shows its work; anything that touches your accounts happens through you.
Which accounts can Hermes see once connected?
Checking, savings, credit cards, loans, and investment accounts across your institutions. You choose what to connect in Candor's secure flow, and you can disconnect an institution at any time without touching the others.
What does this cost?
Candor is a flat subscription, and you see the price in the web flow before anything private is connected. Hermes's own subscription is separate and stays whatever you already pay for it.
How do I disconnect Hermes later?
Revoke Hermes's access from your Candor account controls and it loses the workspace immediately. You can also disconnect a connected institution, export your organized data, or delete your Candor data; some records may remain where security or legal retention requires it.
Can I inspect the skill before installing it?
Yes, and you should. Hermes can preview the full skill with its inspect command before installing, and the package is source-available on GitHub for anyone to read.
